Learning Pathway FAQ

Welcome, learner. We’re excited to have you join us for Camp Read-a-Rama: The Online Experience training. Below are some frequently asked questions and answers to help you get started.

Which learning pathway is right for me?

• I will be the primary planner and/or executor of Read-a-Rama programming at my organization. The Leadership learning path is intended for Site Directors and Program Facilitators who will lead the planning and execution of your organization's implementation of Read-a-Rama programming. Read-a-Rama implementations are required to have an appointed Site Director and Program Facilitator (although those roles may be combined). Note that implementations also require trained program staff and counselors-in-training (CITs), who will participate in camp activities.

• I will assist in planning and/or executing Read-a-Rama programming at my organization, but someone else is directing. The Program Staff learning path is intended for program staff who will participate in camp activities at your organization's implementation of Read-a-Rama programming. Read-a-Rama implementations must also have an appointed Site Director and Program Facilitator (although those roles may be combined), who has taken the Leadership learning path.

• I am a teen (14-17) who will be participating in Read-a-Rama programming at my organization as a Junior Counselor or Counselor-in-Training. The Counselor-in-Training (CIT) learning path is intended for CITs (ages 14-17) who will participate in camp activities at your organization's implementation of Read-a-Rama programming.

My organization’s budget can’t meet the training cost for the pathway I need to register for. Can I register for a less expensive pathway instead?

• Each learning pathway is tailored to the needs and competencies of programming roles. The certificate you receive upon successful completion of a training reflects only the pathway you take.
• We at Read-a-Rama believe that budget should not be a barrier to our training. Please contact us at info@readarama.org so that we can evaluate if you and/or your organization qualifies for our financial assistance program.

My organization wants to do a Read-a-Rama implementation. How many people from my organization need to take this training?

• Each site implementation requires at least one (1) individual trained on the Leadership learning path. You will also need enough Program Staff and CITs to meet the needs of your program size. Staff ratios for programming should be no less than 1:5 for campers 4-7 and no less than 1:7 for campers 8-11. CITs do not count as staff in these ratios because they are minors, but CITs will enrich your program.

I registered for the wrong learning pathway. Can I switch my registration?

• Depending on how far you’ve gotten in your training pathway, we may be able to assist with a request to change pathways. Please contact info@readarama.org for assistance.

I have a question that wasn’t answered about choosing a learning path. Who should I contact?

• Please send your question(s) to info@readarama.org, and we’ll get back with you as soon as possible.

I have a question about implementing Read-a-Rama programming at my site. Can someone at Read-a-Rama meet with me?

• Two live sessions to discuss program implementation are built into the Leadership learning path. Learners who are looking for live planning assistance should register for the Leadership Pathway.
